THE longstanding tussle between the Indian central security system and the Left extremist Communist Party of India (Maoist) is all set to enter in a new phase which is perhaps the most crucial establishment since the arrest of Kobad Ghandy.
Historically, the battle with the Maoists had started from 1967 when the first Maoist rebellion erupted. The battle intensified over the last five years following the formation of the CPI (Maoist), in 2004, through the merger of two prominent naxalite groups, the Peoples War Group (PWG) and the Maoist Communist Centre (MCC). Personally, I believe there is one more political party which is perhaps the most integral part of the CPI(Maoist), the party with an ideology of "roti kapda aur makaan", the party headed by Mr. Prakash Karat.
I always wonder why other parties are not making any serious impact in the Bengal politics, the answer is simple or rather more complicated. For me the CPI(Marxist) is one of those political party which is backing the maoists intensely. Most of us would think why CPI(Marxist) is supporting the maoists, the answer is straight-"Political Power in Kolkata" which inturn is the way to New Delhi.
And this time in the assembly election in Bengal you would see some greatest changes in terms of political reinforcement. Probabaly,rise of Trinamool Congress is almost certain & and as Congress is also doing wonders since 2004, Bengal is all set to see a new coalition in Congress & Trinamool Congress. I feel sorry for Buddhadeb Bhattacharya who has facing the same situation as Atal Bihari Vajpayee had faced in the Bhartiya Janta Party after the loss of 2004 general election.
